The 2023 Globe Baseball Classic is in the knockout stage, with Group USA vs. Venezuela and Puerto Rico vs. Mexico on the schedule this weekend. The United States took down Colombia to punch its quarterfinal ticket, although Puerto Rico ousted the favored Dominican Republic (but lost closer Edwin Díaz in the approach to a knee injury through the post-game celebration). The United States will play Venezuela on Saturday and Mexico faces Puerto Rico on Friday in Miami. 

The tournament is now a single-elimination bracket culminating with the final on Tuesday, March 21. Japan and Cuba are currently into the semifinals just after wins more than Italy and Australia, respectively, in Tokyo.

This version of the WBC was initially supposed to be played in 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Action got began on Wednesday, March eight (technically initially pitch of the 2023 WBC opener in Taiwan took spot at 11 p.m. ET on March 7), and there will be a total of 47 games.
