257-Pound German Athlete Commits to Nebraska’s Defensive Line: A Closer Look

David Hoffken, a talented defensive end from Germany, has officially committed to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Standing at 6-foot-7 and 257 pounds, Hoffken hails from Keil, Germany. He was offered a scholarship by the Cornhusker coaching staff earlier this month and announced his decision to accept it on social media this week.

The Cornhuskers discovered the talented prospect at a football clinic in Houston earlier in the month. While there were initial discussions about Hoffken potentially playing on the offensive line, he ultimately decided to stay on the defensive line after extensive conversations with the coaching staff.

At 22 years old and 257 pounds, gaining enough weight to be game-ready for the offensive line would have been difficult for Hoffken. He felt that his athleticism and mobility made more sense for him to play on the defensive line, a decision he is comfortable with.

Hoffken has all of his eligibility remaining and is set to enroll at Nebraska later this summer. Follow @CornhuskersWire on X and like their Facebook page for ongoing coverage of Nebraska news and updates. This story was originally featured on Cornhuskers Wire.
