An 82-year-old is the world’s oldest female hockey player, according to the Guinness Book of Planet Records.

An 82-year-old is the world’s oldest female hockey player, according to the Guinness Book of Planet Records.

Linda Sinrod, of Lorton, Virginia, a former college figure skater who plays in a women’s ice hockey league there, got a nod from the reference book Friday.

“I’ve generally been the oldest particular person playing so have generally been curious as to how old the oldest female hockey player was and at some point as I got to be 80, I checked Guinness Planet Records to see how old the oldest was,” she told the record book. 

The octogenarian was in her late 30s when she helped identified the very first women’s ice hockey group in the Washington, DC region, exactly where she played for ten years — until she decided it was time to hang up her skates.

Nevertheless, at age 67, she returned to the sport and played on a further group till she turned 75 for the reason that they asked her to leave.

“Since I am older and for that reason slower than any one else, it is less difficult for the opposing players to catch up to me and steal the puck away,” she explained.

That setback didn’t cease her from pursuing her passion for the puck. Soon after she was kicked off the group, she joined the women’s league for which she presently plays.

To train for hitting the ice, she weight trains twice a week and bikes 3 occasions per week. 

At age 67, Linda Sinrod returned to the sport and played till she turned 75. From there, she joined the women’s league for which she presently plays.

“Except when I am playing ice hockey,” she mentioned. “Then it is twice a week.”
