Vanessa, a 32-year-old former competitive swimmer, has faced more challenges in her young life than most. After surviving lymphatic cancer at 23, she was diagnosed with leukemia and stage 3 lung cancer, with metastases in the spine and two large tumors in her head. Her body is now riddled with cancer, and doctors give her a life expectancy of six months to a year. Despite this grim prognosis, Vanessa remains positive and full of joy, cherishing every moment she has.
Vanessa lives in a tiny house by a lake with her boyfriend Sebastian, a police officer. She recently shaved her head due to the effects of chemotherapy and radiation, but still radiates happiness and gratitude for life. While she experiences fatigue and difficulty focusing due to her brain tumor, Vanessa refuses to let her illness dim her spirits.
Despite the odds stacked against her, Vanessa is determined to make the most of her remaining time. She plans to embark on a final trip with Sebastian along the Silk Road from Europe to Japan in a motorhome. To make their dream come true, they are raising funds through GoFundMe under their “Expedition Hope” campaign.
Vanessa is aware that she may not beat cancer but remains optimistic about living longer than expected with the disease. Her resilience and joy in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration to all who hear her story. Vanessa reminds us all that no matter how difficult our circumstances may be
