Blackhawks and NBC Sports Chicago Partner to Present First Local Animated Sports Telecast on April 6th

The Chicago Blackhawks, in collaboration with NBC Sports Chicago and the NHL, are thrilled to announce their first-ever local animated game. Jaime Faulkner, President of Business Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks, stated that this initiative is aimed at introducing the sport of hockey to the youngest generation and connecting with families in a meaningful way.

John Schippman, VP of Sports Content at NBCUniversal Local Chicago, expressed his excitement about producing this innovative approach to hockey broadcasting. Utilizing NHL EDGE positional data and Hawk-Eye Innovations optical tracking, the program will bring the action on the ice to life in real-time. Viewers can expect to see Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk and other characters interacting in a fun environment set against the backdrop of the United Center.

NBC Sports Chicago has also partnered with Beyond Sports to produce this unique experience. In addition to the animated presentation, viewers can tune into traditional coverage with WGN Radio 720’s John Wiedeman on play-by-play duty and expert game analysis provided by Darren Pang. This dual approach aims to cater to a wide range of fans, ensuring an engaging and entertaining viewing experience for all ages.
