Accelerating Health Equity: A Conference Bringing Together Diverse Stakeholders for Positive Change in Kansas City

The AHA Accelerating Health Equity Conference is taking place in Kansas City, Mo., with over 1,000 participants beginning tomorrow. The conference, led by the AHA Community Health Improvement (ACHI) network and AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE), aims to drive change together by emphasizing collaborative leadership from hospitals, health systems, public health departments, and community-based organizations. Although progress has been made in addressing health disparities, there is still much work to be done to ensure equitable access to quality health care for all individuals.

The conference features a diverse lineup of plenary speakers, breakout sessions, and immersion experiences that cover crucial topics such as building and maintaining community partnerships, addressing complex health and social needs, promoting diversity within leadership teams, and fostering inclusivity in the workplace. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit local organizations in Kansas City through community immersion experiences to witness firsthand community health improvement efforts.

Collaboration with community partners is essential to accelerate progress towards health equity. No single entity can solve healthcare challenges alone. Stay updated on conference highlights through AHA Today and AHA’s social media platforms for more insights into fostering trust in communities and advancing health equity. Check out a recent Leadership Dialogue with Lynn Todman from Corewell Health on these topics.

Overall, the AHA Accelerating Health Equity Conference provides an opportunity for healthcare leaders from various backgrounds to come together and share successes, face challenges, and renew commitments towards improving community health. With a focus on collaborative leadership and community partnerships, this conference aims to promote equitable access to quality healthcare for all individuals while addressing ongoing healthcare disparities.
