The Douglas County Health Department and City of Omaha’s Stormwater Division are raising concerns about a harmful algal bloom at a reservoir in west Omaha. This week, samples from Candlewood Reservoir near 132nd and West Dodge Road were analyzed, revealing total microcystin levels above the safe threshold of eight parts per billion.
As a result, the public is being advised against swimming in the reservoir until further notice.
