Marion, Illinois is buzzing with excitement as plans for a $30 million multi-use sports complex are moving forward. The sports complex will be located behind the former Illinois Star Center Mall, just west of Interstate 57 in Marion and will provide much-needed space for sports teams to compete.
The Marion city council and Williamson County board of commissioners recently signed a joint agreement with Oasis Sports to build this new facility. Once completed, the complex will be able to host local and traveling baseball, softball, and soccer teams. The entire complex is expected to be completed by spring 2025.
In addition to finalizing the agreement, new hotel tax ordinances were passed to help cover the financing for the project. This development is sure to be a game-changer for Marion, providing a state-of-the-art sports complex that will benefit the community for years to come. With construction underway, residents can look forward to a much-needed space for sports teams to compete and bring in revenue to the area.
