PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland Thorns forward Janine Beckie tore a ligament in her appropriate knee and will miss the National Women’s Soccer League season and the Globe Cup this summer season with Canada.

Beckie tore her ACL in a preseason game among the Thorns and the U.S. beneath-23 women’s national group Wednesday.

She stated “heartbroken is an understatement” in a post Friday on social media.

“Having worked so really hard throughout the off-season for what was set to be 1 of the greatest seasons of my profession, defending the title for Portland Thorns and of course playing in the Globe Cup for Canada, becoming out for an extended period of time is a complicated pill to swallow,” she wrote.

Beckie, 28, has played for the Canadian national group considering that 2014. She produced her 101st look for Canada in a match against Japan final month in the team’s final match of the SheBelieves Cup tournament in Texas.

General she has 36 ambitions for Canada, at the moment ranked sixth in the globe.

Beckie signed with the Thorns final season following a 4-season stint with Manchester City in the Women’s Super League.

The Thorns stated Beckie will have surgery in the coming weeks.
