The Bengals are facing a shortage of quarterbacks after Joe Burrow’s season-ending wrist injury. In an effort to address this issue, the team has announced that they have signed Drew Plitt to their practice squad. Plitt was previously with the Bengals during the 2022 preseason but had not been on an NFL roster since being cut that summer. He played for Arlington in the XFL during the league’s 2023 season, where he had a record of 63-of-100 for 668 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions.
As they look to add depth to their quarterback position, the Bengals have also designated running back Chase Brown for return from injured reserve and placed guard Jaxson Kirkland on the practice squad injured reserve. With Jake Browning set to start for the Bengals and AJ McCarron in line for the No. 2 job, adding Plitt to the roster will provide more options for the team as they navigate through the rest of the season.
