Aiming to Enhance Quality of Life for Autistic Children with Mozart Sonata, App, and Robot

A dedicated team of researchers from the Brain Research Center at Universidad Veracruzana (UV) are committed to improving the lives of minors diagnosed with autism. Led by neurobiology specialist Anllely Grizzet Gutiérrez Rodríguez, the team focuses on using therapies and enriched environments before considering pharmaceutical intervention.

Individuals with autism spectrum disorder face unique challenges in communication, social interaction, and behavior, which cannot be cured with medication. The UV team aims to help children with autism by rewiring brain connections through innovative tools and therapies.

One such tool is the Reading-Writing in Autism (LEA) web application, which has proven effective in improving learning acquisition and communication skills in children without intellectual impairment. The application stimulates reading and writing skills in children with autism, helping them develop essential skills for communication and social interaction.

In addition to the LEA web application, the team also uses a robotic arm and musical stimulation with Mozart’s compositions to engage children with autism and improve their learning and behavior. By providing controlled stimulation and enriched environments, the team aims to increase attention span, reduce anxiety levels, and improve social interactions in children with autism.

The UV team continues to explore new ways to support children with autism through ongoing research and collaborations with institutions like the Xalapa Technological Institute. With a combination of therapies, enriched environments, and innovative tools, the team is making strides in helping children with autism reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.
