Reid has confidence in 49ers QB Purdy’s ability to stay in control

During the NFL Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, Super Bowl-winning coach Andy Reid expressed his admiration for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Although Purdy’s teammates include the highly acclaimed Patrick Mahomes, Reid was impressed by Purdy’s performance in Super Bowl LVIII.

Purdy, who was selected last in the 2023 NFL Draft from Iowa State, proved himself as a valuable asset to the 49ers by earning the starting job with his impressive performances on the field. In his rookie season, he showed promise as a starter and ultimately replaced Trey Lance, who was traded to the Dallas Cowboys.

In his first full season as a starter, Purdy had an exceptional showing, finishing fourth in league MVP voting and setting a franchise record with 4,280 yards passing. Reid praised Purdy’s abilities on the field, including his field awareness, accuracy, timing with receivers, and calm demeanor. Despite being drafted later than many of his peers, Purdy has proven himself to be a talented quarterback with potential to lead teams to success.
