Bustling Roads During Unpredictable Easter Weather: The Surprising Effect of Rising Fuel Prices in Spain

Despite unpredictable weather conditions, the roads in Spain were bustling with traffic during the Easter holiday. This year’s holiday is estimated to have involved at least 16.5 million trips, resulting in a slight increase in gasoline and diesel prices. Gasoline prices have increased for 10 consecutive weeks and are currently close to last Easter’s levels, while diesel prices are slightly lower than the previous year.

At the start of the second phase of Operation Exit, a liter of 95 gasoline costs 1.63 euros, up 1.24% from the previous week, and a liter of diesel costs 1.5 euros, up 0.52%. Gasoline prices have risen by 2.32% in the past month, while diesel has become slightly cheaper by 1.35%. Drivers will pay around 88.88 euros for gasoline and 84.26 euros for diesel when filling their tanks before their trips. The cost of fuel can vary depending on the service station, with some stations charging between 1.35 and 1.95 euros for gasoline and between 1.16 and 1.99 euros for diesel.

The second phase of Operation Exit began with a slight increase in traffic compared to last year’s figures, with around 9.6 million trips taken during this holiday period.

This represents about half of all trips planned for the entire holiday season.

The exodus started on Friday and will continue until Monday next week, which is still a holiday in several autonomous communities.

Despite rising fuel prices, many people still chose to travel during Easter.

In comparison to other European countries, Spain has lower fuel prices due to lower taxes and raw material costs.

Overall, this marks the beginning of a busy travel period in Spain as people take advantage of their time off work during Easter break.
