Pro-Palestinian protesters have taken to the streets of New York, Washington D.C., and other cities across the country in a show of solidarity with those at Columbia University. These demonstrators, some masked, occupied the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in an act of defiance against Israeli policies. In response, President Alan Granberg of George Washington University turned to law enforcement for help in evacuating the campus.
At the same time, a demonstration of support for Israel took place at Columbia University, where protesters gathered in front of the pro-Palestinian protest tent and called for “return all the abductees home.” This came after violent clashes that had taken place on campus just days before. Severe riots were also reported at Emory University in Atlanta and UCLA in Los Angeles. Anti-Israel demonstrations were also underway at Penn State and Temple University.
The ongoing tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have spilled over onto college campuses across the country, leading to numerous protests and demonstrations by students with varying views on the situation. These events highlight the complex and polarizing nature of this conflict and the challenges faced by universities as they navigate these issues with their student bodies.
