Canyon Crest Academy Ranks High in Latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools

In the latest edition of the “Best High Schools” ranking by U.S. News and World Report, several San Diego-area schools made it on the list. Canyon Crest Academy, located in the San Dieguito Union High School District, was the highest ranked school in the area, coming in at No. 15 in California and No. 140 nationwide. The Preuss School UCSD and Del Norte High School followed closely behind, ranking at No. 2 and No. 3 in the county respectively.

The full list of the top 10 public high schools in San Diego includes Westview High School, Mt. Everest Academy, Scripps Ranch High School, La Jolla High School, Sage Creek High School, River Valley Charter, and Del Lago Academy – Campus of Applied Science. U.S. News and World Report partners with a nonprofit research firm, RTI International to rank nearly 25,000 high schools across the country every year. The rankings are determined by weighted scores based on factors like graduation rates, standardized testing outcomes, and college-level exam performance of students from each school’s class of 2019 or later who enrolled at four-year institutions within two years after graduation or transfer to a two-year institution if they were not enrolled there already by fall 2019 or spring 2020 enrollment data was not available for their first year after graduation or transfer to a two-year institution if they were not enrolled there already by fall 2019 or spring 2020 enrollment data was not available for their first year after graduation or transfer to a two-year institution if they were not enrolled there already by fall 2019 or spring
