Report: C’s lock in Neemias Queta with multi-year deal

The Boston Celtics quickly secured their frontcourt depth in the NBA free agency by re-signing Luke Kornet and bringing back Neemias Queta on a multi-year contract. Kornet signed a one-year deal while Queta, who just turned 25, impressed enough during the season to earn a standard contract in April.

In his first season with Boston, Queta averaged 5.5 points and 4.4 rebounds in limited playing time. He made history as the first Portuguese NBA player to win a championship. With Kristaps Porzingis expected to be out until November or December, the Celtics needed depth in the frontcourt, making Queta’s return even more crucial.

The re-signing of Kornet and Queta provides the Celtics with much-needed depth as they navigate Porzingis’ injury and manage Al Horford’s workload. With only five players remaining on the free-agent market for Boston, decisions will need to be made on Xavier Tillman, JD Davison, Oshae Brissett, Svi Mykhailiuk, and restricted free agent Drew Peterson.
