The momentum at the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce continues at a fast pace. On the heels of Utah’s current legislative session, we are preparing for a quantity of upcoming events and hope that a lot of of you will be in a position to join us.

Legislative session

I have a newfound respect for the guys and girls who give of their time, expertise and sources to make Utah a greater spot for all of us. The legislative caucus of Utah County is a respected and listened-to group on Utah’s Capitol Hill.

Utah County Caucus

On Friday mornings, the Utah Valley Chamber supported our elected officials by attending their 7 a.m. caucus meeting exactly where we listened to and presented a company point of view on legislative priorities.

In mid-February, the caucus hosted our Chamber Executive Roundtable to go over bills that are of significance to the company and chamber neighborhood. Quite a few bills that lacked clarity, have been as well vague or exhibited unfriendly company language have been openly and respectfully discussed.

Other bills, which enabled additional efficiencies and supported the company neighborhood, have been applauded and encouraged. We appreciate the transparency presented and the collaborative spirit extended by our elected officials from Utah County.

1 instance of this is a bill sponsored by Rep. Brady Brammer. He ran a bill that will not only enable Utah enterprises but also bring additional enterprises to Utah. Property Bill 216 establishes the Company and Chancery Court in Utah.

The most properly-recognized of these courts is situated in Delaware exactly where most main corporations are established. The Company and Chancery Court is extensively recognized as the nation’s preeminent forum for the determination of disputes involving the internal affairs of corporations and other company entities by way of which a vast quantity of the world’s industrial affairs is carried out.

The chamber strongly supported this bill, and we are pleased that it passed the Property and Senate and is now waiting for the governor’s signature.

Utah County goes to Washington

In April of this year, the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Gary R. Herbert Institute for Public Policy at Utah Valley University, is hosting a trip to Washington, D.C. In the course of our time there, we will meet with Senators Mike Lee and Mitt Romney and Representatives John Curtis, Blake Moore, Burgess Owens and Chris Stewart. Furthermore, we will hear from Nicholas Cole, a senior analysis fellow at the University of  Oxford, and UVU President Astrid Tuminez, along with other folks.
