The upcoming 2024-25 Nathaniel MG Cup will feature representation from Championship clubs Cardiff City and Swansea City, as well as wildcard entries Newport County and Merthyr Town. These four teams will join the 44 Cymru League clubs in the competition.
Swansea City’s under-21 side made it to the final in the previous season, defeating Cardiff’s under-21s in the third round. However, they were convincingly beaten by The New Saints in the final match.
League Two Newport County will be making a return to the cup competition after last receiving a wildcard entry in the 2021-22 season. Additionally, Southern League Premier South club Merthyr Town will be participating for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
The Nathaniel MG Cup is regionalized until the semi-finals, with Newport County entering the northern section to maintain regional balance in the competition. Each team will be looking to showcase their talent and compete for the cup title in the upcoming season.
