The upcoming event titled “The Health Argument for Climate Action” will take place during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2024). Hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and The Rockefeller Foundation, this event aims to address SDG Goal 13, which focuses on taking urgent action to address climate change and its impacts.
During the event, experts and stakeholders from various sectors will come together to discuss and showcase effective strategies and initiatives for addressing the health impacts of climate change and promoting sustainable solutions. The critical link between health and climate change will be emphasized, as well as the health benefits of climate action.
The WHO has been leading initiatives to promote climate-resilient and sustainable low-carbon health systems through platforms like the Alliance for Transformative Action for Climate and Health (ATACH). This event will highlight these initiatives, as well as solutions in areas such as clean energy, healthy and sustainable food systems, and healthy urban planning.
The event will be held in a hybrid format, with both online and in-person participation available at the UN Headquarters in New York. It is an opportunity for experts from around the world to come together to discuss one of the most pressing issues facing our planet today.
