This week, the focus of This Week in Jacksonville: Business Edition is on Comcast RISE, a small business grant program. The program has announced $500,000 in grants for entrepreneurs in Northeast Florida. Michelle Oyola McGovern, Vice President of Government Affairs for Comcast Florida, explains that the program selects 100 grant recipients to receive financial and support services to help their small businesses grow.

Comcast RISE offers a range of services to its recipients, including commercials and training. Rich Rollins, Vice President of Comcast Business, shares the criteria that applicants must meet to be considered for the grant. To be eligible, individuals must have been in business for at least three years, be independently owned and have less than 100 employees. Jacksonville was selected as one of five cities for the program due to its large veteran population and a focus on supporting veteran-owned businesses.

One previous winner of the Comcast RISE grant is Nichole Mobley who runs T&N Xpress, a logistics and transportation company. She received a grant during the COVID-19 pandemic which helped her create a video showcasing her business and attract new clients. Mobley joins Rollins and McGovern in sharing their insights and experiences on the podcast about how the Comcast RISE program has positively impacted their small businesses.
