The Power, Phil Taylor, has announced his retirement from the World Senior Darts Tour in 2024. After initially retiring from the sport in 2018, he returned to competitive darts last year after making the final of the PDC World Championship. Despite being a 16-time world champion and earning the nickname ‘the Power’, Taylor has decided it’s time to step away from the tour.
Taylor expressed his love for performing and the journey he’s had over the past 35 years. He stated that his final year on tour will be a great opportunity to give fans what they want and go out on top. The World Senior Darts Tour consists of 11 events, including the World Senior Darts Championship at the Circus Tavern in February, and Taylor aims to make it a memorable one.
Billy Lovell of World Senior Darts Tour praised Taylor as one of the UK’s greatest sportspeople and expressed gratitude for his decision to come out of retirement at the beginning of the project. Lovell also highlighted that despite retiring from competitive play, Taylor will continue to be an ambassador for darts worldwide.
