Derek Jeter’s Greenwood Lake Castle Finally Sold for $6.3 Million, Down from Original Asking Price of $14 Million

Derek Jeter’s Lake-front Castle Sold for $6.3 Million

Derek Jeter has finally sold his lake-front castle in upstate New York for $6.3 million. After years of struggling to sell the property, the Baseball Hall of Famer was able to find a buyer by reducing the asking price significantly. Originally listed for over $14 million in 2018, the property went up for auction in 2022 before going into contract in May for its current price.

Located on Greenwood Lake, less than 50 miles north of Yankee Stadium, Jeter purchased the castle in 2003 for $425,000. He transformed it into a 12,590 square foot fortress complete with a turret, bridge, waterfall, fountains and even a replica of the Statue of Liberty. The castle has a family history as Jeter’s grandfather lived there after being adopted by the Tiedemann family, for whom the property was named.

This is not Jeter’s first major property sale since retiring from MLB almost a decade ago. In 2021, he sold a 21,796-square-foot mansion in Tampa for over $22 million.
