Doha’s Hamad International Airport has been named the world’s best airport in 2024, ending Singapore Changi’s 12-year winning streak. Seoul Incheon secured the third spot and was also recognized as the most family-friendly airport of the year. Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita airports claimed the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Hong Kong airport made a significant jump, moving up 22 places to 11th after recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
American airports did not make it near the top of the rankings, with Seattle-Tacoma being the highest-ranked at 24th but slipping six places. European airports continued to perform well, with Paris Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Zurich, and Istanbul maintaining positions in the top 10. In other notable movements, New York’s JFK fell to 93rd place, while LaGuardia improved to 33rd. Melbourne remained the top-ranked Australian airport at 19th place, while London Heathrow moved up one spot to 21st, and Gatwick climbed seven places to 48th. Japan’s Okinawa was the biggest climber, moving from 199th to 91st position.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are determined by customer satisfaction surveys and have been dominated by Doha’s Hamad International and Singapore Changi in recent years. However, in 2024 Hamad International won the title ending Singapore’s winning streak. Dubai also made it into the top ten along with Paris CDG, Munich Zurich and Istanbul
