El Paso Celebrates the Achievements of Nursing and Biomedical Sciences Graduates from Texas Tech Health El Paso

On May 4, Texas Tech Health El Paso will host commencement ceremonies for graduates of the Hunt School of Nursing and the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The ceremony for the Hunt School of Nursing will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Starlight Event Center, while the Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences ceremony is set to start at 4 p.m. at the Medical Sciences Building II.

Texas Tech Health El Paso is renowned for its innovative education that addresses the critical nursing shortage in the region. Graduates from its nursing school have consistently chosen to practice within the Borderplex region after completing their education. This has contributed significantly to El Paso’s economy, with an annual economic impact of $634 million.

The Hunt School of Nursing ceremony will celebrate 72 students who have earned their bachelor of science in nursing. Stephanie L. Woods, Ph.D., R.N., Dean of the school, will deliver this year’s keynote address, while Board of Regents member Pat Gordon will give remarks on behalf of Texas Tech Health El Paso leadership team.

On the other hand, The Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will honor 29 students who have shown exceptional commitment to advancing biomedical research and sciences in El Paso and beyond. Diego Pedroza, Ph.D., an alumnus of the school, will be giving this year’s keynote speech as a significant milestone towards launching their careers in healthcare industry.

Both ceremonies signify an important moment in these graduates’ lives as they embark on new journeys to continue making a positive impact on El Paso’s healthcare community.
