Electrifying Offshore Oil and Gas Operations: Celeros FT Aids in Decarbonization Efforts in the North Sea with Two New Water Injection Packages

Celeros Flow Technology (Celeros FT) is a leading player in the decarbonization efforts of offshore oil and gas operations in the North Sea. The company has recently been awarded a contract to supply two new water injection packages for the AKER/OKEA power from shore project located off the coast of Norway. These new pump packages, which will replace gas turbine-driven units, are set to utilize Norway’s renewable electricity resources to help reduce the carbon footprint of the customer.

The project, led by Aker Solutions, aims to electrify the Draugen platform, located about 145 km off the coast of Norway. This includes replacing the main power and water injection pump turbines with an electrical power supply from a new onshore substation. The project is expected to result in a CO2 reduction of up to 200,000 tons per year when completed in 2026.

Tommy Kassem, CCO of Celeros FT, expressed his excitement about winning the contract by stating “Decarbonization of the global energy supply chain is a critical aspect of reducing climate change impacts and ensuring a cleaner future. This involves updating existing oil and gas assets and developing new renewable resources. Celeros FT is well-positioned to assist both current and new operators as they transition to using alternative, more environmentally friendly energy sources.”

The contract for this project will be carried out by Celeros FT’s ClydeUnion Pumps brand, with skidded packages to be assembled at their primary facility in Glasgow. This news article falls under North Sea oil news category.
