Whirlpool Corporation is proud to announce their continued support of the Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation (MCWT) STEM event, Girls Rock IT. During this year’s event, local girls from grades 2-8 had the opportunity to explore the worlds of coding and app development.
Elementary school students learned about coding with Scratch, while middle school students were able to build their own apps using MIT App Inventor. Parents and guardians were also encouraged to participate, attending a session on Internet Safety and Careers in Technology to better support their daughters’ interests in technology.
As there is a high demand for tech talent and women are still underrepresented in the field, Whirlpool Foundation remains committed to showcasing inspiring role models from Whirlpool Corp.’s IT department and helping young girls explore potential tech careers in Michigan.
