Empowering to Save Lives: Nebraska University Hosts Youth Mental Health First Aid Training in Windom

The University of Nebraska Medical Center is hosting a training on Youth Mental Health First Aid at the Cottonwood County Historical Society in Windom on April 20. This training will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is specifically designed for individuals who work with young people. The program will be offered in Spanish to reach a broader audience.

The goal of this training is to equip attendees with the skills to recognize signs of mental illness, identify signs of substance use disorder, offer support during a mental health crisis, and engage in conversations with family and friends about mental health. This training is intended for adults only and will include a light breakfast served at 7:30 a.m., as well as lunch provided for all participants.

In addition to the valuable skills gained from the training, participants will also receive a $25 gift card and a certificate of participation upon completion.
