The Sacramento Kings have been performing well this season, with a 6-1 record when De’Aaron Fox is on the court and an impressive +13.7 points per 100 possessions. However, despite their recent success, the Kings may still be a player away from being a serious threat in the West.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Kings are expected to be aggressive at the trade deadline in their pursuit of a top-tier player. This has caught the attention of free agent Lou Williams, who believes that Sacramento is not currently viewed as a destination for top talent.

Despite Williams’ comments, there are signs that the Kings are making strides in this regard. They have done a good job of keeping their assets and have tradeable contracts, which could make them attractive to players looking for new opportunities.

However, there are challenges associated with acquiring top talent through trades. For example, Siakam and Anunoby are both unrestricted free agents after this season, and Anunoby has a player option for next year that is below market value. If either of them were to decline their option and become available before the trade deadline, the Kings could be in play for them.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen what will happen with these potential trades. However, it’s clear that the Kings are committed to improving their roster and becoming a more formidable force in the West. With Fox leading the way and continued success on the court, Sacramento may just prove themselves as a destination for top talent after all.
