Celebrating Women’s Contributions in Forensic Science: Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center

Sara Rogers, a Firearms Examiner at the center, has taken on the role with expertise despite not being familiar with firearms growing up in a state with strict regulations. She expressed how gun enthusiasts are typically perceived as male but she has taken on the role without personal passion for firearms. As her primary responsibility, Rogers analyzes ammunition components to determine if they were discharged by a specific firearm. Despite not having a personal passion for firearms, she executes her duties professionally and efficiently. Dr. Steadman, the center’s director, stated that there are 43 employees at the center, with 34 of them being female.
