Rory McIlroy Seeks Coaching Advice from Butch Harmon, Former Coach of Tiger Woods, Ahead of the Masters

Golf legend Rory McIlroy has turned to Butch Harmon, a former coach of Tiger Woods, for guidance in improving his game. McIlroy, currently ranked as the world number two golfer, has been struggling to achieve success in his recent PGA Tour events, with only one top-20 finish this season.

Despite having a long-time coach in fellow Northern Irishman Michael Bannon, McIlroy occasionally seeks additional input from experts like Harmon and Englishman Pete Cowen. In a recent podcast interview, McIlroy shared that he visited Harmon for a golf lesson and received valuable insights into his game. He mentioned that even his daughter Poppy questioned the need for a lesson, believing that he already knows how to play golf.

Harmon was previously known for working with Woods during his early major victories and is now considered one of McIlroy’s trusted advisors. McIlroy’s quest to win The Masters and complete the career Grand Slam has been marked by nine attempts at Augusta, with his best finish being a second place in 2022. Despite his impressive track record and multiple top-10 finishes, McIlroy remains determined to overcome challenges and achieve his ultimate goal with the help of mentors like Harmon.
