Murray and Raducanu set to join forces in Wimbledon mixed doubles

As he prepares to retire from professional tennis, Andy Murray has teamed up with Emma Raducanu in a mixed doubles partnership at Wimbledon. The 37-year-old Scottish player, who won his first Grand Slam title at the 2012 US Open, is playing at the Championships for the last time before hanging up his racket.

Murray recently had a back operation and decided he was not fit enough to play in the singles, opting to focus on the men’s doubles with his older brother Jamie. However, he also wanted to make sure he ended his career on a high note by joining forces with another talented player.

Raducanu shared that teaming up with Murray in the Wimbledon mixed doubles was always a childhood dream of hers. She expressed her excitement at playing alongside him on Centre Court, where he has had many memorable moments throughout his career.

Murray reflected on his experience playing mixed doubles with Serena Williams at Wimbledon in 2019 and described it as a “once in a lifetime” opportunity. Now, playing alongside Raducanu, who won the 2021 US Open, is set to be another special occasion in the final weeks of his career.

The pair will be competing against each other in their respective events while also teaming up in the mixed doubles. Raducanu shared that she is looking forward to partnering with Murray and learning from him during their time together on the court.
