Richard Plaud’s Eiffel Tower made of matches will be recognized by the Guinness Book of Records. The organization has admitted that it was too strict in its assessment of the game and Richard’s attempt is officially great, despite his two mistakes. Plaud spent eight years building his tower, but cut off the matchstick heads and bought them in supermarkets before simplifying his shopping by convincing Flam’Up to supply him with boxes containing 190,000 headless sticks. The flammable, usually red heads of the matches must be scraped off according to the regulations. However, Plaud cut off their heads instead, which led to his disqualification from the record race.
