During a discussion with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Mark Ruffalo, who has played Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for many years, confirmed that he will be returning to the franchise in the upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World. Although details on the movie are still somewhat scarce, it has been confirmed that Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson, aka Captain America, and Harrison Ford will take over the role of Thaddeus Ross following the passing of William Hurt in 2022.
Thaddeus Ross has a significant history with Bruce Banner and in some storylines becomes the Red Hulk, which has led to speculation about the introduction of this character in the film. Ruffalo has taken a break from the MCU in recent years, with his last major appearance in Avengers: Endgame in 2019. However, he has continued to be involved in Marvel projects such as She-Hulk and What If…? as well as appearing in non-superhero films.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released on February 14, 2025, and fans can look forward to more Marvel news, including the company’s release of the first trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine. With Ruffalo’s return to the MCU alongside other beloved characters like Mackie and Ford, fans can expect an exciting new chapter in this beloved superhero saga.
