GITEX Africa 2024: Unlocking Investment Opportunities in the African Tech Ecosystem

GITEX Africa 2024 is set to return from May 29th to May 31st, building on the success of its inaugural conference and exhibition last year. The event attracted over 35,000 attendees and 900 exhibitors from 128 countries. With a focus on sectors like cloud and IoT, cybersecurity, digital health, future finances, consumer technology, telecoms, and AI, European startups should definitely consider adding this event to their calendar. Despite a global slowdown in venture capital, African tech startups raised $6.5 billion in 2022, marking an impressive 8% increase year-on-year. According to London venture capitalist Breega, the African tech ecosystem is comparable to Europe in the early 2010s, with promising GDP growth forecasts attracting future investments from international players. Added attractions at this year’s event include a startup competition with a $100,000 prize and certified training courses on topics like generative AI, blockchain development, and data science applications.
