Good Samaritan Medical Center Suspends Cancer Treatment Unit Due to Physician Departure: Steward Health Care Faces Financial Crisis

Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts has temporarily closed its cancer treatment unit due to the suspension of infusion services by SMG Regional Hematology-Oncology. This closure is a result of the departure of the unit’s physician and has only affected outpatient services. The radiation oncology and surgical oncology units are still open, and inpatient infusion services remain unaffected.

As a result of this closure, patients seeking cancer treatment services are being referred to other hospitals by the Department of Public Health. Steward Health Care is currently facing a financial crisis, which raises concerns about the future of its hospitals in Massachusetts. However, updates will be provided as more details emerge.

This situation is still developing, and 7NEWS will continue to provide updates on-air and online as new information becomes available. Sign up for our Newsletter to receive the latest news directly to your inbox.
