Cameroon Football Association Surprised by Sports Ministry’s Choice of New Team Coach

The sports ministry in Cameroon has appointed Marc Brys as the new coach of the national football team, replacing Rigobert Song. However, this decision was met with astonishment by Cameroon’s football federation. The federation expressed its disappointment at the lack of consultation in the decision-making process and emphasized the importance of abiding by regulations governing national football teams.

The federation is trying to investigate the situation surrounding Brys’ appointment, as FIFA prohibits government involvement in national football. Song’s contract expired after the Africa Cup of Nations, where he led the team to the round of 16 in the tournament earlier this year.

The federation is seeking clarity on the matter and is working to resolve it. They are currently in contact with FIFA to address concerns about Brys’ appointment without their knowledge. The statement from the federation highlighted that they were unaware of Brys’ appointment and that it was made unilaterally and against Decree No. 2014/384 regarding the organization of national football teams.
