The 67th Wyoming Legislature began its first day of the 2024 Budget Session with a joint session. Miss Wyoming USA Beck Bridger from Sheridan sang the National Anthem to open the session. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

In his State of the State Address, Governor Mark Gordon emphasized the importance of focusing on key tasks during this Budget Session, including passing his proposed budget which keeps general fund spending flat compared to 2021 while addressing significant needs such as property tax relief for those truly in need. He also urged legislators to consider the potential impacts on county resources, roads, and schools when considering legislation that addresses high property taxes.

Governor Gordon highlighted Wyoming’s strong economy in his address, noting that the state’s gross domestic product is the highest in history and unemployment is as low as it has been since 2008. He also addressed the impact of Biden Administration’s energy policies on Wyoming and the energy industry.
