Jonas Koch and Carolin Schiff emerged victorious at the Hegau Gravel Race in Germany, the second round of the UCI Gravel World Series in 2024. In the women’s race, Schiff secured the win in a close battle with Janine Schneider, crossing the line with a one second lead. Maaike Colje took third place, the only other rider within a minute of the winning time.
In the men’s race, Koch finished 38 seconds ahead of runner up Daan Soete, with Petr Vakoc coming in just two seconds behind Soete. The race took place on a challenging 136km course consisting of two 52km laps and a 32km lap, with a total elevation gain of 2,710m. The UCI Gravel World Series offers opportunities to qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships in Belgium in October.
The top ten finishers in both races included some of Europe’s best gravel racers such as Hendrix Mees and Hellemose Asbjorn for men’s elite category and Wendy Oosterwoud, Maude Farrell and Klara Sofie Skovgaard Hansen for women’s elite category.
