The Inland Empire Science Festival held at the Western Science Center in Hemet was a huge success among attendees. Leya Collins, the WSC Museum Laboratory Manager, welcomed visitors with “Charlotte,” a non-venomous Reticulated Python, as she greeted guests on April 20.
The event drew many people from Hemet Unified School District and their families who came to enjoy the annual festival held outside of the Western Science Center Museum and Academy. Visitors were able to explore the museum where fossils of prehistoric animals and their histories are preserved and on display at 2345 Searl Parkway.
Leya Collins, along with event coordinator Brett Dooley, welcomed visitors to the festival. As they walked around, Collins explained the importance of science to the community and how it brings science to the Inland Empire. Her passion for science was evident as she shared information about Charlotte, who was draped around her neck and shoulders during her presentation.
