Hurricane Beryl: A Category 5 Catastrophe Leaves Seven Dead in Its Wake and Calls for Global Assistance

Hurricane Beryl, the earliest Category 5 hurricane since 1966, has caused widespread devastation in the Caribbean region with at least seven reported deaths. The hurricane hit Grenada, Venezuela and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines the hardest, causing landslides, destroyed houses and leading to power and communication outages.

In Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro confirmed three deaths in the state of Sucre where Vice President Delcy Rodriguez was injured by a falling tree. Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell reported three deaths after the hurricane passed through the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The storm caused widespread destruction in these areas, leading to a call for assistance and support for those affected by the hurricane.

UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Stéphane Dujarric expressed concern about the situation in Haiti as Hurricane Beryl approached. The hurricane is expected to hit Jamaica with winds of up to 240 kilometers per hour and high waves. He mentioned that UN agencies in the region will be reinforced to provide assistance.

The storm has caused widespread damage and destruction in the affected areas, leading to a call for assistance and support for those affected by the hurricane. Many people have been displaced, homes have been destroyed and lives have been lost due to this natural disaster. It is important that we come together as a global community to help those in need and support them through this difficult time.
