Hyundai Archery World Cup Set for Tlaxcala, Mexico with World Class Competition and Talent

The Hyundai Archery World Cup is set to take place in Tlaxcala, Mexico this year, with several archers vying for a spot in the competition. Among them is the 27-year-old Austrian archer, who displayed exceptional accuracy during the 15-arrow match, rarely missing the eight-centimetre 10-ring. He only missed the four-centimetre X-ring (used for breaking qualifying ties and setting records) twice in the first end, and once each in the second and third.

Winning in Mexico will be a first for him as it marks his first Hyundai Archery World Cup Final. He expressed his excitement at being in the country and reflected on his victory, stating that last year was challenging for him, as he didn’t win anything. However, he is thrilled to be back on track and competing at such a high level.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam will also be participating in her second final after Hermosillo last year where she defeated the top-seeded archer from Mexico to secure her slot. Unfortunately, Andrea Becerra narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final as she had a point to lose with one arrow remaining. Despite this setback, Vennam was able to secure her spot with a wider nine on her last shot.

This season’s Hyundai Archery World Cup consists of three stages instead of four. Therefore, points accumulated with strong finishes in Shanghai placed archers in a good position to qualify for the final based on rankings. Stage winners like Vennam and Wiener have already secured their spots in the final while the recurve finals will conclude the competition in Shanghai on Sunday.
