Abhinash Jamwal and Nishant Dev advance to the second round

In Bangkok, Sachin Siwach and Abhimanyu Loura had contrasting wins in the first two days of competition. Dev, on the other hand, dominated his opponent with a flurry of punches early on and continued to do so in the second round. His solid performance secured a definitive victory for him in the third round.

India has already secured three Olympic boxing quotas for Paris 2024 through Lovlina Borgohain, Nikhat Zareen, and Preeti Pawar. However, athlete participation in the Paris Games will ultimately depend on their National Olympic Committees choosing to select them for the delegation.

India has sent seven men and three women to the second World Olympic Qualifier in hopes of obtaining more quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics. At the Thailand meet, quotas are available in various weight divisions, with three in women’s 60kg, men’s 57kg, and men’s 80kg, and more in other categories.

After a disappointing result at the first World Boxing Qualification Tournament in Italy earlier in the year, Indian boxers are aiming for success in Bangkok and hoping to secure more Olympic quotas for their country.
