Junior Daneev Imbert is identified across campus for her active leadership roles in more than a half dozen organizations, clubs and departments. Regardless of her busy calendar, Imbert’s primary concentrate is scheduling time to bring joy to other people.
“I like to make people today laugh, everybody need to have a small joy in their lives,” stated Imbert, a small business finance important from Miami.
Imbert located her location as a leader in higher college and knew she wanted to carry that into college. The daughter of Haitian and Dominican immigrants, she has utilized her leadership talent to support minority students uncover their residence at The Catholic University of America.
“My aspirations and determination have often stemmed from all the sacrifices (my parents) produced for me and my siblings,” stated Imbert.
Imbert is a founding member and president of the Migrant Rights Coalition, a cultural organization on campus that supports the dignity and rights of migrants, immigrants, refugees and 1st-generation Americans via advocacy, outreach and inclusivity.
“Knowing that I am producing a distinction in the CUA neighborhood and amplifying voices that go unnoticed or unheard is what inspires me to hold going,” stated Imbert. “Even as a student I am producing a distinction.”
As a 1st-year student, Imbert participated in Take Flight, a system from the Center for Cultural Engagement that accompanies 1st-generation students as they transition to University life. Now an upperclassmen, she offers back by mentoring 1st-year students.
Imbert is also involved in leadership roles with the Black Student Alliance, Campus Ministry’s service and justice workplace, and Orientation and she operates with the Workplace of Campus Activities and the Student Philanthropy Council.
Imbert stated she receives remarkable assistance in her service function from the Center for Cultural Engagement. She also credits her classes at the Busch College of Organization for her leadership formation.
“There’s a lot of points I’ve discovered about myself when taking these classes mastering how to be a superior leader and how to assistance other people,” stated Imbert.
In summer time 2022, Imbert went on a Campus Ministry Service and Justice Immersion Trip to Los Angeles that ministered to people today in rehabilitation, inspiring her to function extra right after graduation in gang rehabilitation and immigration.
Imbert hopes to earn a master’s degree in social function and function with nonprofits. She also dreams of opening her personal small business, such as a dance studio or recreation center for young children in low earnings communities.
Imbert’s 3 keys to accomplishment in servant leadership are empathy, listening and kindness.
“Sometimes it is really hard to be a student leader and also be a student,” stated Imbert. “But it is helped me comprehend my location right here at Catholic is to support and assistance other people.”
