The Jets have announced a significant change to their starting quarterback, benching Zach Wilson in favor of Tim Boyle. This decision comes after the team signed Trevor Siemian to the active roster on Tuesday, who will serve as Boyle’s backup. Siemian has experience as a starter, filling in for an injured Sam Darnold for the Jets in 2019 and also having stints with the Bengals, Bears, and Saints. In total, he has 24 games as a starter for the Broncos in 2016 and 2017. Despite this experience, the Jets are choosing to go with the younger Boyle as their starter for the time being. Additionally, they added cornerback Craig James to the practice squad.
