114-year-old man passes away just shy of his 115th birthday

Juan Vicente Perez Mora, a man who lived an incredible 114 years and was certified as the world’s oldest living person in 2022, passed away on Tuesday. He was born on May 27, 1909 as the ninth of ten siblings and began working in agriculture at a young age.

Perez fathered 11 children and had a large family consisting of 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. In February 2022, he was officially awarded the Guinness Record for being the oldest man in the world at the age of 112 years and 253 days old.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his condolences on Wednesday, acknowledging Perez’s achievement of holding this prestigious record. The people of El Cobre, where Perez resided for many years, are mourning his passing and celebrating his remarkable life. His legacy will live on through his family and those he inspired with his hard work and perseverance.
