Lee Health has been recognized as one of the most socially responsible health systems in the United States, coming in at number four out of 311 hospitals evaluated by the Lown Institute. This recognition is a testament to the system’s commitment to providing high-quality care while considering the needs of the community.
Lee Memorial Hospital, which includes HealthPark Medical Center under the same license, was ranked number one in Florida for social responsibility. It also placed in the top five in the state for value of care and avoiding overuse. This recognition highlights the system’s efforts to provide high-quality care while considering the needs of the community.
The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility evaluates hospitals based on metrics related to health equity, value of care, and patient outcomes. It considers over 50 measures, including community benefit, racial inclusivity, and avoidance of overuse. The Lown Institute, established in 2020, is the first organization to assess the social responsibility of U.S. hospitals by examining factors like diversity, pay equity, and the reduction of unnecessary procedures and treatments.
In addition to its recognition for social responsibility, Lee Health has also been recognized for its dedication to health equity. The system was ranked fourth best in the U.S. for health equity, value of care, and patient safety. Lee Memorial Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, Cape Coral Hospital
