Legendary Aggies Kirkland and Williams Join San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame

As part of the Class of 2024, two legendary figures from Texas A&M, Anjanette Kirkland and Andrea Williams, were inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio.

Kirkland, a former track & field athlete from Holmes High School in San Antonio, excelled as a hurdler during her time at Texas A&M from 1993-97. She won multiple conference titles and earned All-America honors while competing for the Aggies. Kirkland is already a member of several hall of fames including the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame, the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame, and the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame. Currently serving as the head track and field coach at Cypress Woods High School in Houston, Kirkland has continued to make her mark on athletics.

Williams, who attended Churchill High School in San Antonio, played both volleyball and basketball for Texas A&M from 1992-1995. She was the first Aggie to letter in both sports in the same year and helped lead both teams to the NCAA Sweet 16. After her time at Texas A&M, Williams had a successful career in athletics administration before becoming the Chief Experience Officer for the NBA’s Utah Jazz.
