A significant drug bust has occurred at Lidl stores in Berlin and Brandenburg, with the customs investigation office reporting a discovery of 223 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were found hidden in banana boxes across eleven Lidl branches, with an estimated value of between 10 to 15 million euros based on a gram price of 50 to 80 euros.
While the customs investigation office provided specific details on the discovery, the police in Brandenburg declined to disclose any figures when asked. However, the spokesperson for the Brandenburg police headquarters mentioned that cocaine in the “low three-digit kilogram range” was found without specifying the exact amount or locations where the drugs were discovered.
The destruction of the cocaine is set for Friday. The joint investigation group comprising of state criminal investigation offices from Brandenburg and Berlin, as well as the customs investigation office, is actively working on the case.
