Lions counter 49ers’ offer sheet for Brock Wright

The Lions have announced that they will be matching the offer sheet signed by tight end Brock Wright with the 49ers, opting to keep him on their roster rather than allowing him to leave for their NFC Championship Game opponents. This decision means that Wright will not have to adjust to a new offensive scheme ahead of the 2024 season.

Over the last three seasons, Wright has played in 41 games for the Lions, accumulating 43 catches for 424 yards and seven touchdowns. He has been a valuable asset to the team and will continue to team up with Sam LaPorta as the top tight ends in Tennessee.

The deal is reportedly for three years and worth $12 million, with $6 million guaranteed. This is a significant increase from the Lions’ original restricted free agent tender of $2.985 million. The Lions are clearly committed to keeping Wright on their roster and providing him with a competitive salary that reflects his value to the team.
