Elisabeth Terland, the top-scorer for Brighton in the Women’s Super League (WSL) last season, is being pursued by Manchester United. The 22-year-old Norwegian scored 15 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Brighton, and even scored the opener in a 2-2 draw against United in the WSL. With her contract set to expire this summer, United has the opportunity to negotiate a deal with Terland before the next international break.
As United looks to strengthen its squad, it has already lined up several targets to potentially replace some high-profile players who are set to leave the club. Among these targets is Mary Earps, who is expected to join Paris St-Germain after rejecting a contract offer from United. Despite lengthy negotiations, Earps felt that the terms offered by United did not reflect her standing in the WSL. Another player, Lucia Garcia, is set to join Mexican champions Monterey this summer. Garcia scored two goals in United’s Women’s FA Cup final victory over Tottenham in May.
United is also uncertain about the future of captain Katie Zelem, whose contract expires at the end of the month. A decision regarding Zelem’s future at the club has yet to be made. As they prepare for the upcoming season, United will be looking to make strategic signings to strengthen their squad.
